PREGNANCY

Finding out you’re pregnant can be such an exciting time full of joy and anticipation about what’s to come. It’s also a time of so much change and you may find yourself asking yourself all sorts of questions about how to support your body. It’s exactly these and many other questions that the seed clinic is here to answer.

Pregnancy is a critical time when eating and other behaviors can lay profoundly positive foundations for a healthier pregnancy and the lifelong health of the mum-to-be and their child. With each passing month, nutritional needs change as your body grows thousands of miles of nerves, a whole new skeleton and trillions of cells. Giving babies the healthiest start in the first 1000 days can have many benefits, including setting up their brain development, positively programming genetics and reducing their risk of future diseases.

Pregnancy is also a time of endless curve balls - sickness, food aversions, fatigue and your body experiencing a complete transformation as you start to adjust to your new lifestyle. It doesn’t exactly make it easy to give extra thought to how you’re eating and living.

A consultation with the seed clinic will help you get clear on what’s needed for nutrient adequacy and how this changes with each trimester. The goal is to help you get more intentional about how you’re nourishing and nurturing yourself over the nine months.

  • 60-minute video consultation with Ella to review your current eating & lifestyle behaviors

  • Supporting nutrition guides with more information and tools

  • Personal action plan

Follow up consultations are available as needed after your initial consultation and once a follow-up has been booked, on-demand support will also be available to you via Whatsapp between appointments.

What’s included:

the seed clinic approach:

Ella will review your nutrition & lifestyle behaviors to offer practical dietary advice tailored to your unique situation and to identify and address any nutrientgaps or deficiencies you personally could be at risk of. When needed, more specific aspects can also be given consideration, including how to cope with fatigue and sickness, balance blood sugar, support immunity and more. All advice is centered around non-restrictive eating principles where you will find out how to incorporate more nutritious foods versus cutting out food groups (sugar, dairy, etc). Wherever you are in your pregnancy, you’ll be left feeling knowledgeable and ready to put everything into practice.

why the seed clinic:

the seed clinic helps women harness the power of nutrition for fertility, pregnancy & postpartum, thereby supporting them to get pregnant and have healthier outcomes for them and their babies.

There is a wealth of reliable evidence from scientific research that shows nutrition can positively influence pre and postnatal health. The first 1,000 days are a critical period of child development, referring to the time from preconception through to around two years of age. Nutrition has a major role to play in brain development, genetic programming and improving long term health for the mother and her baby but advice about how food, supplements and self care can be used as a tool is not reaching the women who need it. The seed clinic is on a mission to close this gap.
